The Welsh Government are developing a new VAWDASV National Strategy for publication in 2027. This strategy will drive forward a whole of government, whole system, and whole society, prevention-led approach in working to end VAWDASV in Wales.
A programme of engagement has been developed to support stakeholder involvement in creating the strategy, its underpinning action plan and exploration of new governance structures – ensuring stakeholders have a voice in shaping the next strategy.
Findings from the review of the current VAWDASV National Strategy 2022 -2026, identified key thematic areas to be addressed in the new VAWDASV national strategy. These engagement events will help partners to further shape that development work.
Engagement with stakeholders will be based on these thematic areas and bookable sessions are available below. Organisations are welcome to book onto more than one session based on areas of interest and the expertise and evidence base brought to discussions.
Each thematic area will focus on children and young people, adult aged people and older people and Welsh Government work to look at intersectionality evidence and apply a structured approach to being victim focussed, public health focussed and trauma informed as part of the session discussions.
As Welsh Government are moving to a whole of society approach to ending VAWDASV, they are asking you to think about the ways your respective organisations can contribute to these thematic areas and how activity by your organisations will feature within the new strategy/action plan.
New Strategy Development Engagement Workshops – all sessions will be online via Microsoft Teams.
