Multi-Agency Training Programme

Multi-agency training is highly effective in helping professionals understand their roles, responsibilities, the procedures and to create a shared understanding of assessment and decision making.

The Cwm Taf Workforce Development Department provides a multi-agency training calendar for all agencies in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf who work with children, young people and adults at risk. The multi-agency training programme is co-ordinated and developed by the Training and Learning Sub Group.

For information on training provided by Bridgend CBC please email scwdp@bridgend.gov.uk

The Cwm Taf Social Care Workforce Development Service has been given permission to begin traditional ‘face to face’ training, albeit with smaller participant numbers and with a significant risk assessment in place to try to ensure the safety of all concerned. Details of safety measures that are put in place and your individual responsibilities within this, will be forwarded to you prior to the course date. Please be mindful that in these unsettled times if restrictions change we may be forced to cancel courses at short notice.

Places on course will be at a premium due to lower attendance numbers so please attend if you are allocated a place and let us know in advance (72 hrs) if you need to cancel your place. Only those whose names are on the attendance list will be admitted into the training room, as we will have a strict number allocated in each room, and to comply with ‘track and trace’ requirements. Unfortunately refreshments will not be available, so please bring what you need. As you are probably aware, face coverings need to be worn in the training room, as well as communal areas.

To book places please e-mail socialcaretraining@rctcbc.gov.uk

Alongside traditional methods, the CTWDS will be offering training via Microsoft Teams/ZOOM.

To book places on the Microsoft Teams/ZOOM courses please e-mail socialcaretraining@rctcbc.gov.uk  providing an e-mail address. Your place will be confirmed and you will be given joining instructions and sent any pre-course materials shortly before the event. Regular comfort breaks from the screen will take place as you would expect in a traditional training event.

Please be mindful that the content of some courses can be very emotive. Facilitators will not be present in the training room in the traditional way, and this may mean you are not able to discuss any concerns you may have as you would previously have done. Please bear this in mind when booking onto any courses and please contact the workforce development team with any concerns following the event and we will try to connect you with the facilitator or a relevant professional to deal with your concerns.

The CTWDS is in the process of moving to a new booking system using RCT Source – Can anyone who does not currently work for RCTCBC or already use The Source please complete the attached form and submit it with your booking request.

National Safeguarding Training Standards

The standards were developed because there:

  • were no multi-agency, national standards for safeguarding training, learning and development in place
  • was a lack of consistency in the design, content and provision of safeguarding training, learning and development across organisations in Wales
  • was confusion around the appropriate levels of safeguarding training, learning and development for the workforce.

The standards will help organisations make sure:

  • they incorporate the standards for practitioners into their safeguarding policies and procedures
  • practitioners understand their responsibilities relevant to the group they’re in and how to follow the relevant policies and procedures
  • all practitioners have access to and comply with the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
