Following the publication of the policy report Victims in their own right? Babies, children and young people’s experience of domestic abuse in April, the Domestic Abuse Commissioner's office hosted a series of webinars tailored for different stakeholders and professionals.

Update on the government response
The Commissioner has called for whole systems changes that recognises and responds to children experiencing domestic abuse as victims in their own right. She has recommended that children’s voices should lead this change and that we need a strong cross governmental response so that improvements are holistic and sustainable.
The government is legally required to respond to the Commissioner's recommendations within 56 days. We are currently waiting for their response, which is expected in the autumn. We are hopeful that the publication of the response will coincide with the government’s Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy.
